New Numbers and Statistics on Chlamydia Symptoms
News reports now say almost 90 million people worldwide have chlamydia, and many don't even know it because they're not experiencing symptoms.
Research indicates that about 3 out of 4 women and 1 of every 2 men infected with chlamydia show no signs of the
disease.
When chlamydia symptoms do appear, it's usually one to three weeks after infection. Once again however, some
people never get symptoms at all.
Women who think they may have chlamydia should be aware of: vaginal discharge, burning or painful urination,
abdominal pain, and lower back pain, discomfort during intimacy, fever, nausea, and vaginal bleeding between
periods.
Common symptoms in men include: burning or painful urination, penile discharge, burning or itching around the
opening of the penis, and swelling of the testicles.
Chlamydia is now one of the most frequently reported sexually transmitted diseases in the North America.
Someone who already has chlamydia might avoid complications by undergoing regular screenings for STDs, and of
course, to be aware of any changes in their health that might be related to chlamydia symptoms.
