Rabies

Rabies - The Facts and How to Protect Yourself

Rabies is one of the deadliest viruses on the face of the earth. It is so dangerous because it is spread very easily from animal saliva to people. You will only contract the virus if the animal that bites you is infected. Rabies is one of the more common diseases that results from an infected animal bite.

There are certain types of animals that transmit this virus more than other ones. In the United States, the animals that are the most likely to transmit the virus are bats, coyotes, foxes, raccoons as well as skunks. The virus is also transmitted in other countries including Africa as well as Southeast Asia. The types of animals that most commonly transmit the disease in these regions are stray dogs.

If a person begins displaying symptoms that are associated with the rabies virus, they almost always die. That is why you need to get to a hospital as soon as possible after being bitten by any type of animal, infected or not. If someone works with animals and has a risk of getting rabies they should always be given a rabies vaccination.

The rabies vaccination almost always gets the job done when it comes to protecting someone from the rabies virus. The problem with the rabies virus is that symptoms do not appear until a few days before death. Some of these symptoms include fever, a headache, extreme agitation, a lot of anxiety, difficult of swallowing, fear of water, as well as hallucination.

You should always seek immediate medical attention at a hospital once you are bitten by an animal. Even if you are bitten by your pet you should still seek medical attention. The reason for this is that you don’t want to risk dying. You never know if your pet has an infection that you do not know about. Even if you are not sure if you have been bitten, you should still seek medical attention. Rabies is an extremely deadly virus and it should never be taken lightly. For example, if you are in a region of the country that has bats and you wake up with a bite you could assume you may have rabies and go to a hospital immediately.

Any mammal on the face of the earth has the ability to transmit rabies. The rabies virus can be extremely scary, but if you take the proper measures you can avoid death. The best way to avoid dying from rabies is by immediately seeking medical attention if you are bitten. If you get a deeper bite from an animal you are at an even higher risk of contracting the rabies virus.

One of the reason as to why the rabies virus is so dangerous is that you don’t know you have it until almost immediately before death. While there are no warning signs of the disease, it is still a disease that is easy to handle. The best way to handle disease is to always, no matter what, go to a hospital even if you have the slightest thought that you have been bit by an animal. It’s better to be cautious than dead.
